Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport (MKE)
Airport Information

(Milwaukee, Wisconsin - WI, USA)

Situated a few miles to the south of Milwaukee, General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is a fairly busy facility handling about ten million passengers per year, with more than a dozen airlines flying to 90 cities across North America. General Mitchell International Airport stands around 5 miles / 8 km to the south of Milwaukee city and is next to Cudahy, Greendale, Oak Creek and St. Francis.

Milwaukee General Mitchell features just one terminal with around 50 gates, and has grown to become the largest airport in the whole of Wisconsin, serving over 600,000 passengers every single month and around ten million annually. A total of 13 different airlines currently handle almost 500 daily arrivals and departures and provide non-stop flights to US and Canadian cities.

Getting to Milwaukee and nearby hotels is easy enough owing to itself location next to the I-43 and I-94 interstates. The airport boasts an excellent complement of local buses, coach lines, 'Go Airport Connection' shuttle buses and courtesy hotel shuttles, which are all available throughout the day. Wisconsin Coach Lines and Greyhound Lines buses run to destinations farther afield, while a convenient Amtrak train station is located next to the airport. Taxis and limos also run to the city and its many districts, such as East Town, Kilbourntown and the Lakefront Precinct, next to Lake Michigan.

About Milwaukee Tourism

Milwaukee is located on the eastern coast of Wisconsin and nestled on the banks of Lake Michigan, being known as the beer capital of America and for Harley-Davidson motorbikes. A tour of the SAB Miller Brewing Company, with its private beer garden and 19th-century Miller Inn, is a must, while the Harley Davidson Tour Center is located just outside the city and within easy reach of Milwaukee's General Mitchell Airport (MKE).

Including the beautiful Veteran's Park, the Port district is ideal for strolling and lovers of the outdoors should visit the nearby Wisconsin Dells. Attractions for families staying here include the Henry West Maier Lakefront Festival Park, the International Clown Hall of Fame, and the vast Milwaukee County Zoo, where around 2,500 exotic creatures live in large, landscaped enclosures.
